Building a Lasting Family Legacy Through Heirs Property, Estate Planning, and Sustainable Forestry Stewardship
Many families inherit land that has been passed down without a will or clear title — often called heirs’ property — which can create challenges and put ownership at risk. This panel discussion will bring community members together to learn practical steps to protect family land and preserve generational legacy.
Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how heirs’ property situations arise, the barriers they can create, and the legal tools available — including estate planning, probate, and title clearing — to help families secure their property for the future.
The panel will also explore sustainable forestry practices that allow landowners to responsibly care for their land while strengthening its long-term environmental and economic value. Together, these strategies support families and communities in keeping land in the family, building generational wealth, and ensuring it remains a productive asset for years to come.
*The panels will be moderated by Geno Jones. Other panelists will include a CHP attorney and forester.

Host an intergenerational conversation about civic participation, organizing, and protecting the vote.
Break down the 2026 primary and general election dates, key statewide and legislative seats up for election, and what those races mean for Black communities.
